Gazprom has starting oil production at the Prirazlomnoye field, which is the first field being developed at the Russian arctic sea shelf.

Discovered in 1989, the oil field is located on the Pechora Sea shelf 60 kilometers off the shore (Varandey settlement). Oil reserves in the area are estimated at 71.96 mln tons. The expected production level of around 6 mln tons a year is expected to be achieved after 2020. The first tanker will be loaded with oil from the field in the first quarter of 2014.

The Prirazlomnaya offshore ice-resistant oil-producing platform built by Sevmash in Severodvinsk will ensure all technological operations at the field.
